Each year GJAC sponsors a special juried visual arts invitational in the Arts Center showcase galleries to promote the creation and promotion of new work from local artists. Significant cash prizes are offered in the categories of best of show/first place, second place, and third place.
Four artists were honored with an opening reception and awards ceremony on Thursday, July 17 for their entries in the Greater Jackson Arts Council’s juried invitational art show. The exhibit coincides with the 9th Annual Storytellers Ball and shadows the fundraiser’s theme of RED HOT from the Cotton Club. The event was held at the Arts Center of Mississippi.
“I was amazed by the dynamic approaches to such a rich cultural theme. Anytime the council can create opportunities to spark artists to produce new work is a winning situation for all of us,” said Stacey Ferreri, GJAC Board President.
The full exhibit will be on display in the upper atrium gallery through August 31.
